About Me
Hi, my name is Don. I’m a 30 year old mechanical engineer in the automation field.
I have many interests and hobbies including fishing, mountain biking, photography, music and much more.
I pride myself on being open to new ideas and experiences. It is a rare day that I find myself not looking into some new interest or hobby. That being said, I do like to dive deep into my interests and really find the best practices and understanding of them.
I tend to spend a lot of time researching and reading into a wide variety of topics which brings me to why I am doing this.
The Blog
The reason I started this blog is really threefold.
The first two are selfish reasons. I wanted to set up a system that keeps me accountable to reading more and considering new ideas.
I also wanted to use this system to make sure I am working through these ideas after I read them. This way I can know that I am understanding them and bringing them into my own life instead of just reading them and forgetting. I have found that taking ideas and putting them in my own words and explanations really is the best way to solidify my learning of a topic.
The final reason is for you. If I feel like these ideas are helpful in my own life, my hope is that it will help one of you as well. It is impossible to read everything out there in the course of a life so if I can distill some useful topics I have come across into short blurbs for you then I think that would be good for all of us.
If I can improve even one person’s life with my posts then I would consider that a great success.
